For Holland star Andy van der Meyde has urged Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez to resist any new attempt from Chelsea to prise him away in January.
Chelsea had a €50m offer for the Mexico international rejected by Ajax last week.
And Van der Meyde believes he would be better served staying put.
“For a player it's not because they really have confidence in you, otherwise they would have knocked on your door sooner," he told Veronica Offside.
“Now they want to make a panic purchase and he wants to leave Ajax straight away.
"Then he must realise they just want me because they have nothing else."
