Really? Guardiola insists Man City had spending cap this summer

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed they employed an internal spending cap this summer.

City spent over £150m this summer, but Guardiola insists they placed self-imposed limits to their outlay.

He stated, "We couldn't buy like the rest of the opponents or give the teams what they requested for their players.

"Of course we spent two seasons ago, but last season we only bought one player (Riyad Mahrez).

"This season was going to be just a little more, so we couldn't afford what the teams wanted.

"The club told me: 'You have a limit and you can't go further. Maybe in the future, but for now you can't do it'.

"I said it's okay, that I wouldn't, and we haven't done it, so let's go with what we have, but sometimes, when that happens, the team connects more, we are finding solutions to do that. We will work on it."
