Real Sociedad are top of the LaLiga table after victory over Real Mallorca.

Julen Lobete's 90th minute strike earned Real Sociedad a 1-0 victory over Real Mallorca on Saturday night, sending the Reale Arena wild with delight. Despite going a man down just before half time, La Real dug deep and collected three points that send them to the top of the LaLiga Santander table.

Having come into this weekend level on points with Atletico and Real Madrid and with those two capital city sides not in action this Saturday or Sunday, Real Sociedad knew that a point or three would see them go to bed as the top team in the country - and this on the night when they presented their Copa del Rey trophy to their supporters.

That table-topping possibility was put into doubt, though, in the final minute of a first half that the Basques had dominated, as Aihen Munoz was shown a second yellow for a lunge at Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta.

The packed crowd at the Reale Arena showed their support to the team and their anger towards the referee Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes, with white handkerchiefs waved at the official as he walked off for the half time break.
