Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is happy with his decision to leave Newcastle United.
Toon boss Rafa Benitez prepared the way for Merino's exit by signing Ki Sung-yueng on a free transfer from Swansea City.
“I take the summers very calmly despite the fact that there are always rumours," Merino said of the speculation over his United future during the summer.
“Being on the team, I realised that it was a good choice, not only for the team-mates and the club, also in general," Merino added.
“The facilities, the people around and the culture, the kind of people who are here and this environment - it is ideal, and I feel very comfortable.
“It is always a joy to be able to talk to people from the football environment because they are very productive talks and help a lot."
