Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino admits growing up idolising Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Merino is now shining for La Real after joining last season from Newcastle United.
He said, "My childhood idol was Steven Gerrard, the Liverpool midfielder, because I loved the passion with which he played and how good he was.
"The worst rival I have ever had may be (Eden) Hazard, in the Premier, because of how uncomfortable he is getting in between the lines.
"My favorite stadium is Anoeta, for playing on that pitch and, above all, with the new stand, it makes it special."
Merino also said: "I think I am quite a complete player. I can attack, I can defend, I have enough skill with the ball and I like to help my teammates. My best virtue is never giving up, always going forward and always trying to win. To improve, I have to do better defensively and physically, take that step forward to compete with the best."
