Real Sociedad in €9m stadium naming rights deal

Real Sociedad have announced a new six-year naming rights deal with insurance company Reale Seguros, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, but Spanish outlet Palco23 says it is worth an annual €1.5 million (US$1.7 million).

The deal, which sees Reale Seguros massively expand its relationship with the La Liga club, also includes kit branding.

According to AS Diario, Reale Seguros was interested in the inventory at the time it signed the deal to become the club's official insurer in 2012, but Chinese company Qbao.com was the team's main sponsor and was also exploring the possibility of taking the naming rights for the Anoeta Stadium.

The San Sebastián-based club had to cancel their contract with the Chinese financial platform in January 2018 after an investigation into illegal fundraising saw Qbao unable to fulfil its financial obligations.

Jokin Aperribay, president of Real Sociedad, said of the naming rights deal: "It is very good news for Real to have Reale Seguros as a travel companion in this new stage for the stadium.

"[The deal is] a challenge for Real. A challenge that we have overcome in a very satisfactory way thanks to Reale Seguros, since the relationship that we have been maintaining in the last seven years is a guarantee that we are linking the stadium to a solvent company, which shares many of the values of Real Sociedad."
