Real Sociedad B coach Xabi Alonso is being lined up for the top job at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder took charge of Real Sociedad B last year and has impressed with his management this season.

BILD says Gladbach chiefs are now favouring Xabi as the man to replace Marco Rose. Rose will join Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Xabi hung up the boots in 2017 and worked with Real Madrid's junior teams before being tempted away to La Real last year.

Real Sociedad aren't expected to stand in his way should Gladbach firm up their interest.
