The Mexican, who has also represented Argentina at youth level, entered the field at the age of just 15 years and 219 days.

That beats the previous LaLiga record held by Sanson, who played for Celta Viga at the age of 15 years and 255 days in the 1939/40 season.

Romero, who was born in Mexico to an Argentinian father, played the final six minutes of the match plus stoppage time at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.
