Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has cooled talk of a return to Hamburg in January.

Hamburg fancy signing the Dutchman in a cut-price deal, with Real still owing €5 million from his original transfer.

But Van der Vaart says: "I have not had any contact with Hamburg. There is nothing at all. Although I do think it's great that people remember me, because that means that I have left good memories at the club.

"I have a contract here and I will do everything possible to get in the team regularly and take my chances."
