Liverpool are being rebuffed in their attempts to secure Marco Asensio from Real Madrid.

The Spanish international is someone who has interested Reds boss Jurgen Klopp for several years.

However, Diario Sport states that the 26-year-old is not keen on a move to the club.

The source indicates that while Liverpool do want to sign Asensio, the player is reluctant to move to another team where he would be a backup.

He is presently not a first team regular at Real, while he knows that competition for places is fierce at Liverpool.

Asensio would have to contend with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez for a starting spot in the front line.
