Real Madrid winger Marcos Asensio has taken Gareth Bale's No11 shirt after his departure for Tottenham.
Real Madrid had two options, Marco Asensio and Vinicius Junior, and it seems the former has been given the nod to take the No.11 shirt.
Asensio confirmed as much on social media and will wear the shirt which was made famous by Paco Gento, the only player in the history of football to win six European Cups, as well as other greats Jorge Valdano, Martin Vaquez and Laurie Cunningham in having the No.11 on his back.
As a result, Asensio leaves behind his No.20 shirt that he has worn for almost his entire Real Madrid career, from his ascent to the first team to his important goals with Los Blancos, including the one he scored in the Champions League final in Cardiff.
