Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio was delighted with his role in Spain's 6-0 win over Croatia.

Asensio scored in the first half and then forced an own goal from Nikola Kalinic before going on to assist Spain's next three.

"We played a great game," he said afterwards.

"It's always nice to play with these players."

Asensio has become more of a regular this season at Real Madrid and will no doubt look to do the same for his country.

"Whenever I am on the pitch I try to give my all," he said. "If I can contribute with goals and assists then that's even better.

"At a collective level we all defended and attacked well together."
