Real Madrid wing-back Marcelo has suffered an injury setback.

After a good performance in a left-wing-back role against Getafe on Tuesday night, the Brazilian had to go off just before the end of the game with an issue with the soleus muscle of his left calf.

"Following tests carried out today on our player Marcelo by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to his left soleus," a statement said on Wednesday.

While Real Madrid didn't offer an estimated recovery period, this injury is expected to take around three weeks to recover from.

It is a blow for Marcelo, who has been working with a personal trainer this season to try to reach optimal fitness.
