The Santiago Bernabeu will host the second-leg of Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors.
AS reports an agreement was reached between CONMEBOL, the Spanish Football Federation, FIFA and Real Madrid yesterday afternoon to host the return leg in Madrid.
The Spanish government approved the request shortly after a statement was due from CONMEBOL at 20:00 hours when Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez published a tweet to guarantee the safety of both sets of supporters. Three hours after an announcement was expected, CONMEBOL issued a statement to confirm the Bernabéu as the venue for the return leg and the date and kick-off time: Sunday 9th at 20:30 hours Central European Time.
The Confederation also confirmed that River Plate have been served a 400.000 US dollar fine and a two-game stadium ban as punishment for the incidents which occurred ahead of the scheduled game at El Monumental which had to be postponed.
