Real Madrid are ready to test Manchester City's resolve over Raheem Sterling.

Sky Sports says Real plan to offer £70m plus wantaway winger Gareth Bale in exchange for the England international.

Bale has sought an exit from the club but it remains unclear if City boss Pep Guardiola would be interested in the 30-year-old Welshman.

Bale has three years remaining on his deal and presents a sizeable chunk of the club's exorbitant wage bill.

Sterling is six years younger than the Welshman and is on an upward trajectory in his career having thrived since Guardiola took over at the Etihad Stadium.
