Real Madrid striker Benzema talks Ronaldo visit and World Cup snub

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was happy to see former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the Supercopa de Espana final.

The Portuguese forward, who recently joined Al Nassr, visited the Real Madrid training session on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Benzema was asked why there was no photo of the two former teammates to come out of that meeting and the Frenchman revealed that they didn't actually cross paths.

"I think Cristiano Ronaldo is happy here, I hope he can keep scoring goals and being decisive," Benzema stated.

"He was at our training session, but we didn't need a photo to show we're friends. We don't need that for Instagram and Twitter and all that.

"Even though he was there, I didn't have time to say hello to him. Hopefully I can see him tomorrow at the final and speak to him."

The other major talking point was the French national team and why Benzema was sent home early from Qatar. But, despite several journalists insisting, Benzema wasn't giving much away.

"It was complicated, but it's in the past," he said of the 2022 World Cup.

"I'm not going to talk about France or the World Cup. If you ask me about tomorrow's match I'll respond, but the rest I won't."
