Real Madrid striker Benzema discusses Haaland, Ronaldo signing rumours - and his contract

Karim Benzema insists he'd welcome Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to Real Madrid.

Speaking ahead of Los Blancos' Champions League tie against Atalanta, the French striker, who scored two in a 2-1 win at home to Elche last weekend, intimated that he would have no problem with Haaland joining Real Madrid.

"I'm not going to talk about players who aren't here," Benzema said during Monday's pre-match press conference.

"Every month we talk about people who are not here, about players who score a lot of goals.... He scores a lot of goals for his team.

"If one day he has the opportunity to come, let him come..."

There have been reports in the last week that Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Real Madrid, which is something that Los Blancos' No.9 did not shoot down.

"With Cristiano we have done a lot of things here," Benzema said.

"I don't know how Cristiano is at Juve. He has always behaved well with me.

"I don't know if he's going to come back here to Madrid, I'm not the coach or the president."

Benzema's contract comes to an end in June 2022 and, although there has been talk of him returning to Lyon, he has made clear that he wants to renew at Real Madrid.

"I go day by day at Real Madrid," he stated.

"I have a contract until 2022 and the door is open [to renew].

"If the president wants to renew me, I'm here. I'm here and I hope to stay here."
