Real Madrid will spend big to land Lyon fullback Ferland Mendy.

AS says Real will splash out €55m to sign the France international left-back.

Lyon wanted €60m, Real Madrid offered €50m and in the end they reached an agreement for an intermediate amount. The fullback will sign a contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until 2025.

Mendy, who will turn 24 on Saturday, will become Marcelo's prime competition on the left side of defence. Both coach Zinedine Zidane and his staff, especially David Bettoni, have insisted on Mendy being signed this summer.
