Real Madrid signing Mariano Diaz has paid tribute to Lyon and their fans.

Mariano returns to Real after they triggered his €22m buy-back clause.

The striker posted to social media: "Today is when I must say goodbye to a club which helped me a lot to develop as a footballer and as a person. I only have words of thanks for my team mates, members of the coaching staff, everyone who works at the club and above all, the fans who have been there every single day.

"With every ounce of effort, in every move, with every touch of the ball, every pass and every goal, I have defended the Olympique de Lyon shirt as though my life depended on it."
