Real Madrid signing Brahim Diaz posts emotional Man City tribute

Real Madrid signing Brahim Diaz has paid tribute to Manchester City players and staff after his deal was confirmed today.

Within minutes of his €15.5m transfer being confirmed, Diaz released the following statement on social media:

"I was just a child the day I arrived in England. I landed with my father, my mother and my three sisters. None of us in the family knew how to speak English, but football does not understand languages.

"I close a chapter of my life and I say goodbye to Manchester City, a club where I grew up and where I stopped being a child to become a professional footballer. Thanks to all the coaches, from the Academy to the first team, for trusting and believing in me during all this time and for making me grow as a player and a person. Thanks to the whole body and medical services. Thanks to those people who work day after day for City to continue improving.

"Thanks to my teammates and, of course, thanks to the fans who have accompanied us every game. I will never forget your voices chanting my name on the night we eliminated Fulham in the League Cup.

"I wish you the best."
