Real Madrid's Catalonia scout Manolo Romero has enjoyed a dig at Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

After Sunday's El Clasico defeat at Real, Pique declared the hosts "the worst Real Madrid team I've ever seen".

In response, Romero told Radio Marca: "Unlike Piqué, I think we are in front of the worst Barcelona of recent times ... you have to look in the mirror."

Romero spotted and helped sign Mariano Diaz under Barca's nose and was delighted seeing the striker score on Sunday.

"He is a grateful boy, of those who let himself be advised and who has not lost his humility despite reaching the elite of football. Especially he is someone who loves Real Madrid, something that not all players show.

"I do not understand how, with the problems that Real Madrid has to score, Mariano has not had more opportunities this season."
