Real Madrid president Florentino puts line through Tottenham midfielder Eriksen

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has put a line through Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Florentino was considering the Dane as a summer transfer target, knowing Eriksen has been stalling over new contract talks with Spurs.

However, AS says the president has dropped plans of replacing Luka Modric with Eriksen and instead is to hand the Croatian veteran a new deal.

And in terms of cover, Florentino has been won over by Dani Ceballos, having pushed personally to bring him from Real Betis last summer. Ceballos' current form has Real's top brass convinced he is capable of eventually succeeding Modric as the heartbeat of the team's midfield. Further strengthening the youngster's case is his friendship with Modric.

As such, word has now been sent to Eriksen's minders that their interest in his signing is now over.
