Real Madrid president Florentino must smash wage ceiling to land Man Utd ace Pogba

Manchester United chiefs remain confident of securing Paul Pogba to a new deal - despite fresh attempts made by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Pogba's agent Mino Raiola continues to hawk the midfielder to clubs on the continent, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.

AS says the big problem for Florentino is that Pogba's current €15m salary already far outstrips the top earners at Real Madrid. Indeed, with Pogba demanding €22m-a-year to re-sign, Florentino would have to smash their wage ceiling to take on the Frenchman.

For their part, United would be prepared to meet Pogba's current demands to secure him to a new deal.

The midfielder's current contract runs to the end of this season.
