Real Madrid officially blasts Le Graet over attitude towards Zidane and Benzema

Real Madrid have slammed French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet for his comments about Zinedine Zidane.

Le Graet, when discussing France coach Didier Deschamps' new deal, declared he wouldn't answer if he received a call from Zidane.

That claim drew an angry response from Zidane's former club Real Madrid, which declared in a statement:

"Real Madrid CF regrets the unfortunate statements made by the president of the French Football Federation, Noël Le Graët, about Zinedine Zidane, one of the biggest legends in world sport.

"These words imply disrespect for one of the most admired figures by football fans around the world and our club expects immediate rectification. Zinedine Zidane, world champion and European champion defending his country's jersey, among many other titles, represents the values of sport and has demonstrated this throughout his professional career as a player and coach.

"The statements of the president of the French Football Federation are inappropriate for someone who holds this representation and disqualifies himself, like those he also holds about our captain Karim Benzema, current Ballon d'Or, champion of the League of Nations with France in 2021 and winner of 5 Champions League, among many other titles."
