Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde was pleased to be part of victory over Juventus.

Real won 2-0 at the Rose Bowl, with Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio scoring the goals.

Valverde said, "The key thing was to gain match fitness to head into the season hungry and in good shape. There have been physical and tactical improvements since the first game and we're happy with the win.

"Now the most important thing is our work day to day, to keep training hard and get ready for the Super Cup. We want to be together as a team to try and fight in every competition.

“It's a pleasure to put in so much effort and sacrifice when you share it with them. It's a beautiful thing, we have been able to spend time with them every day, signing autographs, taking photos. They give us that bit extra going into the games."
