Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde was upbeat after their draw with Roma.

The 2-2 result was the final game of Real's preseason. Marcelo and Casemiro struck for Real.

Valverde said, “Preseason is all about making mistakes and improving from a tactical point of view, in order to be ready for the new campaign. We have to keep giving our best because the competitive season starts now.

“Often results don't happen as we'd wish, we always want to win but the most important thing is next weekend and we're ready. I give my all and I have the backing of my teammates and the coaching staff.

"The players who are here are all ready for the upcoming season. We'll always try and give our best, improving in training to bring Real Madrid to where it deserves to be."
