Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde says the players must apologise to the fans after their defeat to Real Betis.

Madrid ended an underwhelming season with a home defeat against Real Betis, with Valverde sending out an apology to supporters.

"We have to apologise for this game, and time will tell what happens in the future," he said.

"We try to give our best, but I personally didn't have a good match.

"I appreciate that [the fans] came and I am sure that next year they will come back to support us.

"We are Madrid and we want to go out and win every trophy.

"I tried to enjoy every moment [this season, despite the team's complicated campaign], from the first to the last."
