Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has described the sacking of Julen Lopetegui as "beneficial".

Ceballos was happy to help Santiago Solari earn a first Champions League win as caretaker coach.

"I am very grateful to Lopetegui because he gave me a chance when last year I played very little, but I think the coaching change has been beneficial," said Ceballos.

"We hit the bottom in Barcelona (5-1 defeat).

"From now on, the team has the ambition and the desire to silence the critics."
