Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro happy with victory over Valencia in Supercopa

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro was pleased after their 3-1 defeat of Valencia in the Supercopa de Espana.

The result sees Real move to the final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian was happy with just how much Real Madrid controlled possession.

"I think we completely controlled the match," he said in a post-match interview.

"We went out with the plan of controlling the ball and we did so, it went as we planned.

"Maybe you lack something with five midfielders, but we controlled the ball.

"It was a match to test this and we showed that we can play like this against a tough team.

"Valencia are always tough and we did well.

"This is an important win for us."

Asked if he'd prefer Atletico Madrid or Barcelona in the final, Casemiro wouldn't say.

"Either of the two teams will be very difficult," he said.

Finally, he was asked about the massive support for Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia.

"We have to thank everyone for the support," he said.

"We've had the backing of the fans and you noticed it.

"You notice that we're the biggest team in the world and that even outside of Madrid there are fans who love the team."
