Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga talks up influence of senior pair Modric, Benzema

Real Madrid midfielder Edouardo Camavinga has sung the praises of senior teammates Luka Modric and Karim Benzema.

Camavinga is currently with France at the World Cup and was asked about his two Ballon d'Or winning teammates.

On Modric, he said: "On my birthday he tried to congratulate me in French. It wasn't that way, but I liked the intention (laughs). He said he could be my father, because seventeen years separate us. You learn a lot from great players like him, it is important to have special respect for his career.

"He tells me to play simply, to control myself and, when I have the chance, go ahead with the ball. It helps me stay calm. Every day with him I try to prove that I am a good player."

On Benzema, who was forced out of the Les Bleus squad due to injury, Camavinga also said: "His career is a role model. He started in Lyon and today he is the captain of Real Madrid, has just received the Ballon d'Or and has won numerous titles, including five Champions Leagues!

"He is someone very important in my life in Madrid and in the French team, he made me feel very comfortable, I have a very good relationship with him."
