Real Madrid keeper Courtois tells Atletico fans: You can spit and stain my stadium plaque

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says he can handle any backlash from his former Atletico Madrid fans.

Courtois admits any hostility has so far been restricted to cyberspace.

The former Chelsea keeper said, "I have not had any negative reactions on the street, apart from a fan who told me 'Aupa Atleti' while he was pumping gas.

"Everything is limited to social networks, where it's easy for people to be anonymous, or to spit and stain my stadium plaque, I do not care, if that makes them happy, good for them.

"If they want to throw things at my head next week, well ... It will not affect my play, it's more motivation."

He added: "What if I expect things to be thrown at me during the whole match, I've already experienced it in Belgium, they threw lighters at Anderlecht and a beer mug in Eupen, unfortunately it's part of football. It's a pity that Atlético fans are now against me."
