Real Madrid keeper Courtois: Granada pushed us all the way

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admits Granada pushed them all the way for Wednesday's 2-0 win.

Los Blancos didn't seal the points until Karim Benzema broke away to score their second goal in second half stoppage time.

"Granada are a very intense team, pressing us high, pushing down one side," Courtois said at full time. "They were quite good. It wasn't our best game, but winning games in succession is important.

"I'm very satisfied. We knew that we could well suffer against a good team. They tried to slow the game down at the start.

"In the second half, we were more up for it and intense, and the football came out on top. It's a hard-fought win but a good win."

The Real Madrid keeper then took the opportunity to send fans a Christmas message.

"Good health to all Madridistas and everyone," Courtois added. "Let's hope the pandemic passes quickly. We really miss our fans in the stadium. I hope we can win more games in 2021."
