Real Madrid are in talks with Max Allegri.
While Zinedine Zidane has denied reports of him informing Real's players that he intends to leave this summer, Gazzetta dello Sport via Okdiario says contact has been made with Allegri.
The former Juventus coach is a free agent and Real have made him their top choice to replace Zizou.
A two-year contract with the option for a third has been offered to Allegri, with a salary of €10m plus bonuses.
Talks have also been held with the Italian over squad strengthening, which include a move for PSG striker Kylian Mbappe.
However, everything will depend on Zidane, with Real president Florentino Perez not prepared to sack his coach. If Zidane chooses to stay, Florentino is willing to go forward with the Frenchman.
Allegri had stepped away from football after leaving Juve in 2019, where he won five consecutive Scudetti titles. The Italian also guided Juve twice to the Champions League final, though never finished a winner.
