Jose Mourinho must negotiate his pay-off with Manchester United if he wants to return to Real Madrid.

The Sun says Mourinho has been contacted by Real Madrid about a return to the Bernabeu.

Real president Florentino Perez wants Mourinho, 55, back and the club have contacted his representatives.

But £15m pay-off negotiations with United chief Ed Woodward threaten a quick appointment

Perez appointed the Portuguese back in 2010 and he went on to win the Copa del Rey and beat Pep Guardiola's all conquering Barcelona side to win La Liga in 2012.

Mourinho left the following season after a dressing-room revolt but Perez did not want him to go.
