Real Madrid hero Davor Suker has paid tribute to Karim Benzema.

The Croatian pointed to the way in which the Frenchman has stepped up to try and replace Cristiano Ronaldo's goals since the legendary No.7 left the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2018.

"I wish him all the best," Suker said of Benzema during an interview with Goal France.

"As a No.9, I love him.

"Today he is part of Real Madrid's history.

"I like the way he plays and there is no doubt he's one of the best players in the world.

"The statistics are still the main criterion on which we judge a forward."
