The Daily Mail says Real believe Bale's form will improve the chances of Spurs keeping him for another season and paying at least some of his salary in what will be the final year of his contract in Spain.
The 31-year-old's future is delicately poised with Real Madrid having all but given up any hope of raising a transfer fee for him. The best scenario for them is that he moves on a free this summer and so frees them from having to pay the £600,000-a-week salary for one more year.
The next best thing is that a club, most likely Tottenham, agree to take him on loan next season paying half his wages as Spurs are currently doing. The worst scenario is that he returns to Madrid and they have to foot the bill.
