Real Madrid great Roberto Carlos wants to see Marcelo return to the Brazil squad.

Roberto Carlos hopes the player who took his place at Real Madrid returns with the Brazil national team because "he is the best left-back around right now", even though Brazil coach Tite has left him out of his most recent squad lists.

"Everyone deserves a new chance and I think that Marcelo is growing back into the Marcelo of old - the player that I remember, one who plays with joy and does things that only can do out on the pitch," he explained.

"I hope he returns with the national team and competes for his place with Filipe (Luis), Alex Sandro and Renan Lodi."
