Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois: Liverpool fans didn't deserve such treatment

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had a message for Liverpool fans this morning after winning the Champions League final.

The start of Saturday's match in Paris was delayed after Reds supporters were unable to get into the Stade de France - and what quickly became clear was the shocking way they had been treated.

Proceedings eventually got under way 36 minutes after the scheduled kick-off time with Madrid goalkeeper Courtois producing an imperious performance to keep Jurgen Klopp's side at bay.

The former Chelsea shot-stopper was named the man of the match after making a number of saves to earn Carlo Ancelotti's side a 1-0 win.

And on Sunday morning, Courtois took to Twitter to send a message to the Liverpool fans.

He said: "I feel sorry for Liverpool fans and the way they were treated. I hope everyone got home safe!"
