Real Madrid forward Bale: No Zidane contact since Kiev

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale admits he hasn't spoken with former coach Zinedine Zidane since winning the Champions League final in Kiev.

The Welshman discussed his relationship with the French coach, who announced his departure from Los Blancos several days after the game.

"He didn't talk to me about [his departure] - I still haven't spoken to him since," Bale told FourFourTwo.

"Our relationship was good, but I wouldn't say we were best mates as it was just a normal professional relationship."

The 29-year-old came off the bench in the final against Liverpool and scored a brace as Madrid won the game.

"I've watched the goal back a couple of times and I didn't feel like I had a point to prove - I wanted to do it for myself and the team," he added.

"If you play in any final you want to be going home with the trophy, no matter what it takes.

"If it meant waiting to come on for the last 30 minutes, so be it.

"I was really frustrated not to start, as I'd played pretty well since coming back from the last little niggle I'd had in December.

"I scored five goals in my last four league games of the season and felt like I deserved to be involved from the start."
