Real Madrid fans returning to Santiago Bernabeu: Crowds improving

Real Madrid fans are returning to the Santiago Bernabeu as results improve under coach Zinedine Zidane.

A total of 64,125 supporters watched Los Blancos beat Espanyol 2-0 on Saturday..

The average attendance at the Bernabeu last season was less than 62,000, which reflects the problems the team went through during the campaign, reports Marca.

They only broke through the 80,000 mark once during last season - for the Copa del Rey semi-final with Barcelona.

The 70,000 figure was only reached for the LaLiga Santander clashes with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and the Champions League tie with Ajax.

For this season, the average attendance is up to 65,187 thanks to high attendances against Granada, Real Betis and Paris Saint-Germain.

That means the Bernabeu is, on average, 81.43 percent full this season compared to 75.28 percent of last season.
