Real Madrid eager to hand Bale pay-rise to thwart Mourinho plans

Real Madrid management have made contact with Gareth Bale's agents - about having the Welshman STAY.

While Bale and former coach Zinedine Zidane didn't see eye-to-eye, the attacker could always count on president Florentino Perez as his strongest ally inside the Real boardroom.

And with Zidane now long gone, moves have been made to convince Bale to resist interest from Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.

El Confidencial says both Florentino and his No2, Jose Angel Sanchez, have spoken with Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, about a pay-rise.

Real are willing to upgrade Bale's current terms of €15m-a-year to convince him to turn down the chance of a Premier League return at United.
