Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane admits he draws daily inspiration from captain Sergio Ramos.

Varane says he appreciates the motivational powers of his senior teammate.

He told DAZN: "I am inspired by players like Pepe and Sergio Ramos, defenders like me, and Cristiano Ronaldo: he is an example for any player.

"I learned a lot from them: for example, Sergio Ramos has taken the winning mentality. Finds stimuli every day, he always wants to win, even in training. He has experience and never loses the right motivation.

"Being a Real Madrid player means having little margin for error. We have to know how to defend above, to pressure the rivals, and this leads us to having 50 metres of field behind us: that's why we have to have maximum concentration."

On coach Zinedine Zidane, Varane added: "He is a great example for me. He is very calm, always stays positive and believes in himself."
