Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane insists they were deserved 1-0 winners over Espanyol.

Despite some demanding more, the World Cup winner stated that it was important that fans are realistic with their expectations in LaLiga Santander.

"We aren't going to win every game 5-0, we have a very complicated league," Varane stated when questioned on whether his team were disappointed by merely winning by a single goal.

"Espanyol play very good football.

"It was difficult but we haven't conceded and it's a good win."
