Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez says Real Mallorca deserved their win.

Nacho was captain for the day in the 1-0 defeat.

He later said: "We knew it was going to be a tough game, because of the kick-off time and because we didn't have much time to rest. Mallorca are having a great season and when they go ahead it's even more difficult.

“They defended really well thought the game. It was a fortunate goal, but they worked hard and we weren't at our best in terms of creating chances. It's a shame because we've dropped three points.

“These things happen in football. I went for the header and was unlucky that it went into the top corner. That's football. We also missed a penalty and we had some good chances but we couldn't take them."

Nacho also called for fans and opposition to ease the tension with Real teammate Vinicus Jr.

He added, “I think there's a bit of an atmosphere that doesn't favour anybody. Not Vini, nor football or the fans who have a go at him. What we have to do is enjoy football. It's a great sport. We have to forget about controversies and nonsense."
