Real Madrid coach Zidane plans new role for Lucas Vazquez

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is ready to use attacker Lucas Vazquez at right-back for the LaLiga restart.

Marca says the Spaniard started on the right of Zidane's front three at Betis in March, but he's the only attacking player in the first team squad who is capable of playing further back.

His contributions during matches may go unnoticed by supporters, but they're essential in terms of keeping to the coach's game plan.

Lucas has played as a No.2 before, both with Spain and Real Madrid.

Rafa Benitez was the first coach to try him in that position at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, starting Lucas at right-back against Getafe in December 2015, despite having Alvaro Arbeloa in the squad.

Zidane has also trusted Lucas with filling in on the right of defence, playing him there in the return leg of the Champions League semi-final with Bayern Munich in 2018.
