Real were comfortable 2-0 winners at the Alfredo di Stefano.
"I come away with a really good feeling," said Zidane. "It was a hard-fought win. We created a number of chances to have scored in the first half and when that happens in 45 minutes and you fail to score, you can become angry and get a bit stressed but that ultimately wasn't the case for us. We continued to play our game and were patient enough to keep plugging away and the goal duly came.
“They knew we'd come out the way we did in the first half. They defended as a deep unit in central areas and we had to use the wide areas and play with great width and with the four players on the outside as well. That's what we did in the second half."
Zidane also remarked: “I'm delighted for my players. When a team plays as we did in the first half, in which we had five chances to score and didn't convert them it's a bit frustrating for them.
"However, at the break I told them that it would come if we were patient and kept playing and we did that. I was really pleased for them because when you score it's a relief and that was the same for me too. The gesture of satisfaction was for my players.
"They're there fighting and it's not easy because the opposition always go all out, play their game and battle and it's not easy. There's a massive sense of satisfaction amongst my players."
