Real Madrid are lining up a January bid for Tottenham flyer Gareth Bale.

The Sunday Mirror says the Spanish ­giants made a late effort to recruit the 21- year-old whizz kid before last ­Tuesday's deadline but were knocked back.

But Real coach Jose Mourinho sees Bale's pace and power as an asset - and they are likely to be back in the New Year.
