Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has dismissed the significance of dropping club icon Iker Casillas for defeat to Malaga. Mourinho has copped a heavy backlash in Madrid over his decision, but the Portuguese doesn't understand the complaints.

"I do not understand why he is a monument. For me, the monument is Madrid and the Madrid coach should always do what is best for his team," barked Mou.

"I see no need to build a mess, no monuments, nothing. I prefer people who, regardless of what they've done in the past, think about what you want to do tomorrow."
