Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was surprised by Xabi Alonso's comments over the Ballon d'Or. Xabi says Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer deserves the gong ahead of former Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ancelotti said: "I've read what he said, it's just an opinion and I don't like to get involved in this type of statement because he's expressed his personal opinion.
"I think it's pretty clear that he's one of the few who doesn't think Cristiano will win it. It's normal he think that, Neuer's his teammate. There was a lot of debate last year, but even if I weren't the Real Madrid boss this year, it'd still be hard to think of any other player than Cristiano winning it.
"Some people forget how important Cristiano was in winning the Champions League, he scored 17 goals. Let's talk about next year's Ballon d'Or."
