Real Madrid coach Ancelotti rejects criticism after victory over Inter Milan

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was happy with victory over Champions League opponents Inter Milan.

Toni Kroos and Marco Asensio struck for the 2-0 win, with Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella being sent off.

“When Inter had more control in the first half, we still ran relatively few risks and didn't need to do anything extraordinary, especially after taking the lead," Ancelotti told Sky Italia.

“We were dangerous on the counter, could've had a second just before the break, so it all went pretty well.

“People are a little critical here and complain Real Madrid don't dominate possession, but you don't win games with possession, you win if you score goals."

He added: “Inter are a strong side, they are difficult to control, because they attack well, control the match and it was frankly not in our interest to press them high. We did that a few times and ran risks, so this way we can defend better."
